Especially in our geography, pastures are rapidly deteriorating and losing their texture due to global warming and irregular grazing. Today, science is working on plants that are highly drought and barren tolerant, can be potential animal feed, and can be used to improve pastures. Small cattle breeding in Karapınar (Konya), which has a dry climate, is one of the places that will be most affected by this situation. With this study, it is aimed to determine the local species and their potentials that can be used in the improvement of rangelands in Karapınar and its surroundings. 13 common halophyte have been identified through field studies and their potential for forage crops or pasture improvement has been evaluated. It has been suggested that 9 species from the same family as Atriplex canescens, which is used in rangeland improvement studies, are found in Karapınar, and that especially Salicornia perennans can be used for animal feed, and Camphorosma monspeliaca and Bassia prostrata can be used for rangeland improvement. |
